Arrow detachable shirt collar

From the mid-19th century into the 1920s, the stiff, detachable starched shirt collar was an essential part of men’s business and formal wear. Beginning in the ‘20s, the permanently attached collar came back into fashion, and the detachable collar became associated with certain jobs (such as priests and British barristers) or, rarely, with very formal dress.
