Unusual Objects from the Museum on Main Collections
When you take an object away from the context of its original time and place, it can seem odd, even bizarre, to those who haven’t encountered it in its proper environment.
For this exhibit, we’ve brought out several of our more curious objects to display out of their context. With a little hint, how many of them can you identify?
Some of these objects had functions that are familiar to us now, but we use very different tools to perform them. Some of them may still be used today in types of work the public rarely sees. Others served functions that are themselves now obsolete. But all of them are things that we don’t see everyday and might have a little challenge identifying.
