Canvas radiator bag
This bag was designed to be filled with water and hung over a car’s radiator cap, providing extra cooling as well as a backup source of water for the radiator (or even for drinking, in an emergency). They were popular in hot, dry climates—like the southwestern United States, or the Amador-Livermore Valley during the summer.
As car manufacturers developed more sophisticated and effective cooling systems, however, bags like these became obsolete.
