Collections

The current catalog lists the following as part of the collection:

  • Total: 8,834 items.

Exhibits

The Museum displays artifacts, archival and art collections pertaining to the local, California and American history in its permanent exhibits gallery. This gallery is updated on an annual basis. Through visiting and traveling exhibits, displayed in the Phoebe Hearst room, the Museum is transforming into a dynamic and delightful place to visit.

Educational Programs

The Museum offers tours to school groups, scout troops, youth and adults and families. Hands-on activities engage visitors to interact with the exhibit components. Walking tours in downtown Pleasanton make the visit to the Museum a memorable experience.

Ed Kinney Lecture Series

From Gold Fever to Film Making and Ghost Trackers — there are enough thrills to satisfy individual interest and curiosity. Unless otherwise noted, all lectures are on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Museum at 603 Main Street, Pleasanton, CA.

Special Events

The Museum is popular with its Ghost Walks, Wines and Valentines Dinner, Udder Event and Heritage Days.

Publications

The Museum publishes its quarterly newsletter, available for members and visitors; Museum and membership brochures, rack cards, flyers, posters and press releases.

Volunteers

Our volunteers embody the heart of the Museum's mission. We could not imagine our operations without their dedication and passion for our all our activities.

Statistics

10610 visitors came to the Museum on Main in 2007. 1108 students, accompanied by 354 teachers/chaperones visited the Museum on Main in 2007.

Current Projects

Pleasanton's Museum on Main and the City of Pleasanton are partnering to enhance and expand the interpretive programming and administrative operations for the Alviso Adobe Community Park, scheduled to be open in October 2008.
